The Agricultural Engineering and Permaculture Program reflects the practical relevance of RCA’s curriculum. Having volunteered for the Food Pantry and delivered hot meals to those in need, students understand the importance of a sustainable model to fight food insecurity in disadvantaged communities.
Students learn techniques of container and organic gardening, urban gardening, and raising chickens. Felix Lufkin, who is also a college professor, teaches students about permaculture and wild edibles and provides background on various uses for medicinal herbs. Students learn to share this valuable information with others.
